Support “In the Path of Peace” Documentary
In the Path of Peace, our feature-length documentary film, will show how Krav Maga, the self-defense discipline popularized in Israel, can be one of the most effective tools to combat antisemitism—particularly in the aftermath of the horrific attacks in Israel on October 7th.
The film goes beyond self-defense, delving into the mental and physical empowerment that Krav Maga embodies, helping individuals build character, overcome trauma, and walk with pride.
Krav Maga is the story of Jewish survival. And this story is being told within the context of the events of October 7, 2023, and their aftermath—the global rise in antisemitism and anti-Zionism, the increase in attacks against Jews (both verbal and physical), and the resulting feeling of insecurity and alienation by many Jews.
Ironically, these are the same phenomena that led to the creation of Krav Maga in pre-Holocaust Europe. The difference between these two eras, of course, is that the State of Israel exists, and it does so because Jews now have the means with which to defend themselves.
Krav Maga, as shown in this film, is one of the best tools that diaspora Jews have to learn how to be proud, strong, and secure in their identities.
Some of the themes that the film will explore—beyond antisemitism—are empowerment, resilience, and self-actualization. The film is about overcoming fear, reclaiming identity, and standing firm against hatred.
The film will also explore the different approaches that Israeli and diaspora Jews take to confrontation and conflict. How the Israel-honed discipline of Krav Maga is an outgrowth of the Zionist idea of creating a new type of Jew—physical, confident, and more secure in the world.
The ethos of Krav Maga, as articulated by Imi Lichtenfeld, is so “that one may walk in peace.” It is about avoiding a fight whenever possible; when avoiding a fight becomes impossible, one must be ready to do what it takes to survive.
Israelis have understood this since 1948. For the past several generations, American Jews have had the luxury of not having to fight or to even be prepared for one. In 2024, this is no longer an option.
The film’s topic could not be more timely given what’s currently happening to Jews around the world today. In the Path of Peace is more than a documentary—it’s a wake-up call.
With your generous support, we can make this film a reality. The team is in place and has been filming since last April. With the horrific events of October 7 in Israel, and the aftermath being felt around the world, the original focus of the film has shifted. We would like to complete the film before the end of the year, if possible.
Thank you for your generosity!
